Mixing a formulaic story with the odd moment of crudeness doesn’t sound ground-breaking, but Pitch Perfect’s characters, dialogue and music pitches things…well…perfectly. Sorry. Not sorry.
Kendrick’s journey through the film mirrored my own. Low expectations with a dawning realisation that I was actually rather invested. Perhaps the biggest surprise is that Rebel Wilson didn’t make me want to smash my TV through a window (damn you Bridesmaids), though the ‘fat’ thing did wear a little thin.
I’m guilty of prematurely judging films I consider ‘girly’ poorly, but this isn’t one. It’s just a group of characters I enjoyed being with.
