Wild Card in 100 Words

Wild Card needed to decide what it wanted to be; a cautionary gambling tale or an action film? It doesn’t commit to either, which is extremely unfair on Jason Statham.

‘The Stath’ does manage to be particularly deadly with cutlery in the few fights there are (three short fights that is), for which he should be commended, but his character’s struggle with addiction and following realisations about his life are puddle deep. The most convincing thing of all is Stanley Tucci’s wig.

If you’re going to remake a film, at least try to differentiate it or improve upon the original.

  1. Thanks for commenting.

It's good to see Statham trying something different. But this wasn't how the film was marketed, and it ended up being quite boring for me.
