The Babadook in 100 Words

A Super Duper Stuff first. A guest reviewer!

My brother Ben went to see this last night, so here’s his 100 word review. Maybe I’ll rely on him a bit more in the future 😉

‘If it’s in a word or if it’s in a look, you can’t get rid of the Babadook’.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

With two excellent central performances, the story should have played up to the tension of the first two acts; instead it gives us a monster reveal which diminishes what had come before.  As a psychological drama dealing with the relationship between a still grieving mother and a shunned son the films excels; as a horror it started brilliantly but ultimately left me wanting. It tried hard but in the end I rid myself of The Babadook quite easily.
