Over the years I’ve heard Poltergeist talked about in positive terms.
I did like the family aspect of it. Despite it being extremely of its time they’re built up well and you believe that they’d go to great lengths for each other. Some good points are made about capitalism too, with everyone packed into identikit homes and little care given for the area.
But this has always been sold to me as a horror film, and in that respect it’s sorely lacking. One creepy clown does not a horror film make. Spielberg maybe being the director is a bigger drama.
