Giving the audience what they want makes sense, and Pitch Perfect 2 has plenty to give. But in doing so the overall harmony has been disrupted.
It ticks all the boxes of its predecessor with some fantastic performances and a series of perhaps crude but amusing statements and non sequiturs.
The story doesn’t hold up well under scrutiny, but the songs and performances make cover the cracks overall. It could have been trimmed down too, indulging Wilson too much whilst giving time to threads that go nowhere.
An entertaining and lively performance, but I detect a waver in the pitch.
